Whether that was a free hand, or a quick kiss, or a squeeze to her leg in passing… Though he had other tasks to attend to, through the rest of their quiet conversation while he finished cooking, he kept any sort of physical contact with her that he could. Unfortunately dinner interrupted them in the form of the pasta boiling over. He even hummed against her lips when he felt her hands snake around his waist and press him in closer to her. He kissed her a little harder as if to show that although she’d made the first move tonight, he had definitely wanted it to happen. With re-inspired confidence from the first kiss, Buck moved his hands to hold her against him one on her lower back and the other on the back of her neck. Eloise cupped her hands over his cheeks, and with a blush rising in her cheeks, leaned in for a chaste kiss. He stepped into the space between her legs with his hands on the countertop on either side of her hips. With just a couple small steps, he was in front of her. He went easily, not needing too much coaxing. And she, realizing she’d have to be the one to make the first move tonight, reached forward for Buck’s wrist and pulled him over to her. They both stared at each other for just a moment. As it boiled away, he glanced at Eloise, who’d taken a seat on the counter beside him. “I know she would be.” Buck set down the wooden spoon he’d been using to stir the pasta. We’ve got big dreams for you.’” Eloise smiled at Buck and then took a small sip of her wine. “She died just a little bit after I’d gotten into college,” she forced another half-smile and then set her wine glass down. “I like to think she knows I went into law and started helping people. I always begged her to let me help, but she’d tut at me and wag her finger and say, ‘Lulu, do your homework. Picked me up from school everyday, cooked up dinner and desserts. “Dad worked at the aerospace factory and mom taught English at the high school. He managed to side-step into a conversation about the woman in all the pictures. Even when she brushed her hand over his forearm, or squeezed his bicep when he said something funny, he tried to downplay his obvious excitement. He didn’t want to her to think he was only attracted to her for the outwardly physical things they could give each other. Despite having shared a few kisses at the office and then on the walk to her car that night, he felt unsure if that was still proper to do. And also insisted that all she do was crack open the bottle of wine he’d brought along. Even when Eloise rolled up her sleeves to help, he insisted he was fine. One could only live on takeout for so long. A single man, living alone, got good at cooking for himself. Once in the kitchen, Buck found his stride. She brought just as much precision to her personal life as she did to her work. And yet everything impeccably clean and tidy. Framed photos of her family many of which included a person that Buck assumed was one of her grandmothers. She led him further into her home, giving him the chance to pick up little details that made up her life. I’ll get these in some water, then be free to help you with dinner,” But he looked rattled and Eloise figured she’d try to help ease his nerves. Having battled in court in front of a hundred people, surely this little date couldn’t compare. For as much as she too felt the nerves rising in her body, she thought Buck would be imperceptible to nervousness. He smiled, almost embarrassed, and shut the front door behind him. She accepted them whole-heartedly and buried her nose in them for a quick sniff as she stepped backward and allowed his entrance. “Seeing as though this is a date, we can probably avoid the Mr. “Miss Hammond,” he greeted, thrusting the bouquet forward. Neither of them could help but break out in huge smiles upon seeing each other. He was there with a bouquet of red roses in one hand and a paper bag full of groceries in the other. At least no one that she’d care to open the door for. There was no other person who’d be knocking on her door except for Buck Compton. But I do love me some posted by rogue-durin-16 Request: Hey!
